Instructions for Wood Floor Cleaner & Polish Kit

Step 1 – Assembling the Microfibre Spray Mop

Assemble the Microfibre Spray Mop as per the instructions on the box.

Step 2 – Cleaning the Floor

Sweep the floor to remove any loose dirt.

Dilute the cleaner on a ratio of 9:1 in the mop container. For dirtier floors, you can increase the amount of cleaner. Once the container is back in place on the mop, spray a controlled amount of Wood Floor Cleaner onto the floor and push the mop through the cleaner. The microfibre mop head will absorb the liquid and dirt from the floor as you go along. Repeat this process to clean the entire floor.

Once finished, leave the floor to dry for at least 15 minutes.

Step 3 – Polishing the Floor

Remove the liquid container from the Microfibre Spray Mop and attach a clean mop pad.

Shake bottle well and squirt directly onto the floor. Using the Microfibre Mop, spread the polish evenly and thinly across the floor wiping sideways against the grain. Apply very light fingertip pressure when doing this. Then wipe following the direction of the grain for a lovely smooth finish.

Work in small, manageable sections, before moving onto the next area. Leave to dry for 30 minutes before walking on the floor again. The finish does not need to be buffed or polished.

Once finished, both mop heads can be machine washed.

Q. Can the kit be used to clean a hardwood floor?

A. Yes, it is a great hardwood floor cleaner, and can be used to clean and polish any type of wood flooring whether it is solid wood or engineered board.

Q. How much cleaner should I apply to my wooden floor?

A. When cleaning a wooden floor it is important not to soak the wood. If using a mop and bucket be sure to wring out the mop so it is not dripping wet. Then when you're wiping the floor you just want the surface to be dampened with cleaner so you can see it glisten.

Q. Is the Wood Polish a wood floor wax polish?

A. No, wax polishes are good, but they will wear off quicker and not provide the same level of protection. Our polish is based on polyurethane technology so provides a much higher level of protection. If you want a waxed finish for your floor though, we recommend using our Wood Wax & Polish.

Q. Will the products in the kit make my floor slippery?

A. No. The cleaner and polish contain the right balance of ingredients to create a smooth finish on flooring, but not one that would ever make the floor slippery.

Q. How often should you use the kit?

A. The cleaner should be used to clean the floor as often as needed. However, the polish has been designed to protect wooden floors for six months. This time will increase for lesser used rooms, but could be slightly reduced for very high use areas. Our advice is to re-apply the Wood Floor Polish when you see the floor starting to look dull again, or as a guide:

For rooms used daily – apply polish once every six months
For rooms less frequently used – apply polish once a year

Q. Can the kit be used on oiled floors?

A. It can, but for best results you should use our Floor Maintenance Oil.

Q. What is a spray floor mop?

A. A spray mop is a mop with built in cleaning fluid container that is sprayed onto the floor as you clean. Unlike with a normal mop, there is no bucket of water to carry around, and so when you clean you’re also not smearing around dirty water from the bucket. Its simpler, easier and more hygienic to clean with a spray floor mop.

Q. Are spray mops more hygienic?

A. Yes. The cleaning solution sits in the container and is sprayed onto the floor and wiped with the mop head. Rather than cleaning the mop head in a bucket of dirty water (like you would with a normal mop and bucket) the mop had can be taken off and rinsed under the tap or washed in the washing machine.

The use of a spray mop also stops the spread of dirty water (from the bucket) around the floor.
