Step 1.

Clean the leather with the Leather Ultra Clean, before applying the Leather Re-Colouring Balm. This will remove any dirt or grime which may be blocking the pores of your leather. Doing so will allow the Balm to penetrate the leather, bringing better results. 

Step 2.

Rub the Leather Balm into the leather in a circular motion to ensure penetration. This is enough to completely restore the colour. Leave the Balm to soak into the leather for 10 minutes, then take a clean cloth and buff the surface of the leather. Make sure there is no excess Balm left on the leather.

Step 3.

After buffing, the leather becomes 100% colourfast. For thorough protection, longevity of your leather and to reduce future fading, we recommend applying the Leather Protection Cream.

Q. Is Leather Ultra Clean safe to use on leather?

A. Yes. Our Ultra Clean does not contain any solvents or abrasives and has been specially made for use on all leathers, therefore it will not cause any damage. It can also be used on natural and delicate leathers such as aniline, semi-aniline and oil/ wax pull-up.

Q. Can the Re-Colouring Balm be used on any type of leather?

A. Yes, however, for the Balm to work the leather must be absorbent or scratched to a lighter colour. You can test if your leather is absorbent by dropping a small drip of water onto the leather’s surface. If it soaks in, then this is the ideal product for you. If the water does not absorb, we recommend using either our Complete Leather Repair Kit for small areas or our Leather Colourant Kit for larger areas.

The Re-Colouring Balm will work on non-absorbent leathers if the surface of the leather has been scuffed or scratched, showing a lighter colour beneath. Applying the Re-Colouring Balm will blend the damage in but will not repair it. For this, we recommend our Complete Leather Repair Kit.

Q. Is it necessary to clean my leather before applying the Re-Colouring Balm?

A. It is highly recommended to clean your item first as it will remove any dirt and grime on the leather which may be blocking the leather's pores. By removing this build-up it allows the Balm to soak into the leather, giving much better results.

Q. Will the Balm come off onto my clothes?

A. No, once the Balm has soaked in and been buffed off it is completely colourfast. You should buff the leather with a clean, dry cloth until there is no colour transfer showing on the cloth.

We recommend applying our Leather Protection Cream to add further protection to your leather. This will not only protect your leather against staining but will add further colourfastness.

Q. I cannot see a colour which matches my item perfectly on the colour chart, what should I do?

A. It is not crucial that the colour matches the colour chart. Our Re-Colouring Balm is designed to cover multiple shades of any colour, and so will blend in as it is applied. The more Balm you apply the darker the colour will get.

The nature of most absorbent leathers is that there is not one specific colour to your item, therefore you do not require an exact match in colour.
