Teak Oil provides many benefits to wood and is a popular choice for wood finishing. We recommend Teak Oil for Garden Furniture, as this is where it performs its best.

What is Teak Oil?

Teak Oil is a wood finishing oil used to protect and nourish wood. It penetrates deep into the grain of the wood to create a long lasting, hard wearing finish that protects the wood and enhances its beauty.

Our Teak Oil is formulated using a traditional recipe of pure tung and linseed oil, making it completely safe and non-toxic to use. As Teak Oil isn’t a naturally occurring oil itself; the formulation is open to interpretation and so other companies Teak Oils will likely differ from one company to the next.

Why is Teak Oil a popular choice for a wood finish?

  • Easy to use and fast drying (4-6 hours)

  • Replaces oils lost through weathering restoring a rich, golden honey colour

  • Dries to a natural matt finish, enhancing the beauty of the grain

  • Helps to prevent drying, warping, splitting and deterioration, giving the surface of the wood good water and dirt resistance

  • Provides UV protection to slow the greying process of not just teak, but all other exterior wood

  • Suitable for use on all hard and exotic woods, in addition to teak

Teak Oil Overview

Some additional information about Teak Oil:

  • Drying Time – 4-6 hours

  • Re-coat – Apply three coats for best results

  • Coverage – 20m2 per litre

  • Finish – Teak Oil dries to a natural matt finish. However, the overall finish will depend on the type of wood the oil is being used on.

Here you can see the effects of Teak Oil on 3 different pieces of wood: beech, oak and walnut - light to dark coloured woods. You can see how the oil darkens them to a different degree but enhances the grain of the woods.

Using an oil to finish either stained or bare wood is a good option to provide protection from daily use, weather and moisture.

Wood oils are easy to apply and will help enhance the natural beauty of the wood.

When it comes to choosing a specific oil, it mostly comes down to the environment the item is being used on and how you want the finished article to look.
